diy baby wipes Okay, let’s be honest. How many disposable wipes do you go through in a day. I go through soooooo many because it seems to me that they just smear poo around and I need five to clean up the mess that I made with the first one. Ugh.

I know for many people disposable wipes are the bees knees! I would love to know your technique because obviously I lack a certain skill set needed to use them efficiently.

Anyway, we got tired of poo smearing wet wipes and thought… there must be a better solution. In my opinion, we have found the perfect alternative. Cloth wipes with a great smelling and perfectly functioning DIY solution.

DISCLAIMER: We are a cloth diapering family so using cloth wipes isn’t a big deal. We just toss these in with the diaper laundry and voila, we got clean wipes ready for round 2 or 3 or 456.

We have found these wipes to be poo cleaning champions. We rate poos in our family based on how many wipes it took to get the job done. We have only used three wipes for those rare POO-SPLOSIONS, you moms know what I’m talking about.

So how can you make this amazing poo cleaning solution for your cloth wipes?

1. Gather your ingredients

Cloth wipes (we love these!)

Mild castile soap (you can get some here)

High quality organic coconut oil (my fav)

Lavender essential oil (check out this link on what essential oils I use and why)

Warm water

2. Let’s mix it up

Scoop out 1 TBS of coconut oil

Add 3-4 drops of lavender essential oil

Add 1 tsp of mild castile soap

Mix or swirl around with a chopstick which is my preferred method

Add 2 cups of warm water

Now that you have your solution, all you have to do is pour it over your wipes and store in a sealed container so that these wipes stay moist. Our baby is treated like royalty so we have a butt wipe warmer like this one. We fold our wipes accordion style (say what? here’s how!), put them in the wipe warmer, pour the solution over the wipes and down the edges. I also usually pour a little solution between some of the wipes to help it get all of them moist.

This usually wets about 10-12 wipes for us but it may do more or less depending on your preferred dampness.

I hope you enjoy this DIY recipe and happy butt wiping!
